Series Summer 2009... Our 4th Season. Wednesday Evenings @ 6:30pm back |
| Safety Notice: The Liberty! Bicycles 8x12 Off-Road Series is a competitive race series, but its primary focus is fun. As such, we need riders to take care of each other when out on the course. That means, you may have to sacrifice your own race in order to help others. This should be considered a guiding principle when you are involved in any Liberty! Bicycles event. Part 1: Accidents on Course. 1. If a rider has been involved in an accident, stop and help them. Take a quick assessment and determine the severity of his or her condition. If the injury is serious, report the situation to the nearest course marshal. Head injuries must always be treated as serious. Always, one person should stay with the victim; another should get help. 2. Any rider unable
to finish due to a crash should report the incident
to the Start/Finish line. This can be done in person or through a
friend. Mobile phone calls can be made to the Start/Finish at
905-329-3976. Names, Plate Numbers, and a few details about injuries
and the location of the crash would be helpful.
3.
Riders involved in an accident must never leave the course until they
are attended to and/or identified by event marshals.
Part 2: Sportsmanship, Passing, and General Etiquette. 1.
Indicate to riders ahead that you intend to pass them. “On your
left!” means you will be passing on their left side, “On your right!”
means you intend to pass on their right. ONLY pass when there is
adequate space, and it is safe do so.
2. If
you hear “On your left!” or “On your right!” maintain a straight
course and allow the rider to pass on the indicated side. Communicate
for safe passing.
3.
Ride within your limits. Skill levels vary widely; So, if you are
unable to ride a section please dismount, move to the side of the
trail, and walk your bike until you reach the next achievable section.
This will avoid the likelihood of an accident. It will also reduce
congestion, and allow advanced riders to pass.
4. Be
nice. If you are found to be overtly aggressive, hostile, or
lacking in sportsmanship, you will be asked not to return. We do not
want inconsiderate competitors or participants. To be clear,
un-sportsman-like behaviour will result in being banned from ALL Liberty!
Bicycles events.
